Cemetery Policies

River Side Cemetery Policies and Procedures

The River Side Cemetery Association shall be considered a public, not-for-profit entity, having no restrictions as to race, creed, color or residence.


No burial of any type shall take place until the location is approved and marked by the Actuary.

The location of all monuments shall be approved and marked by the Actuary prior to installation.


The burial of one casket and one cremains or two cremains per conventional gravesite shall be allowed.

The burial of an infant shall be considered the same as one cremains.


Each conventional grave shall be six feet in depth.

A concrete vault shall be required for each casket.


The planting of trees and arborvitae shall not be allowed. The planting of shrubs, including species and location, shall be approved by the Actuary prior to placement.


Artificial flowers, decorations and memorabilia placed on grave sites will be removed if they become unsightly or if they interfere with maintenance of the area. All artificial flowers shall be removed on or before September 30th. Artificial Christmas flowers shall be allowed during the month of December.


Fences and hedges shall not be permitted. Solar lights may be placed immediately adjacent to the monument or concrete base. Toys, memorabilia and personal belongings may be placed between the second Sunday in May (Mother’s Day) and the day after the third Sunday in June (Father’s Day). These items remaining after this time period and all other items that interfere with cemetery maintenance providing a respectful and attractive landscape will be removed. Effective date: September 30, 2020.


Burial sites may be purchased as full lots (four gravesites), half-lots (two gravesites) single sites or special cremation sites limited to one inurnment per site.


New or relocated monuments and markers of all types shall be installed with a concrete or granite border on all sides, having 4 inches minimum width, with the border placed flush with the surrounding ground.


Concrete bases, for monuments to be placed on single cremation sites, shall not be larger than 3 feet by 2 feet. (3 feet in width)


Installation of a monument or marker within one year of interment/inurnment shall be required for all burials, both conventional and cremation.


An Actuary Fee shall be charged for each burial of any type. This fee shall include marking the burial site location and any subsequent location service required for placement of monuments and markers.
